Fashion Month Spring 2022

Over the month of September into early October, designers worldwide debut their newest collections for the Spring season, first in New York, then London and Milan, and finally in Paris. As with many of the changes we saw coming from the COVID pandemic, some of the modifications made for Fall shows in February and March continued.

Among those shifts that we really enjoy is the incorporation of more non-traditional catwalks and other experimental formats along with shows themselves that display more playfulness and creativity. One example is Balmain, which held a two day music festival to celebrate creative director Olivier Rousteing’s 10-year anniversary with the brand. Balenciaga also surprised and delighted us by debuting their collections as if it was an episode of The Simpsons.

Among the top themes we saw across a number of designers’ new collections were vibrant colors and surfer girl inspired prints. Midriff, Grecian inspired draping, long trains and sheer garments were recurrent sights throughout the world’s major cities. Also front and center was the focus on sustainability. Stella Mcartney is one who uses fashion as a medium to bring attention to global issues, and her collection this season highlighted urgency around climate change and ocean preservation with the use of sustainable fabrics.

And on the subject of fabrics, we at Entrupy are always looking at the newest textiles on the runway with authentication in mind. Every time we want to launch authentication support for a new brand or material, we first have to collect a robust data set around it. We use that data to train our machine learning algorithms to identify authenticity with near 100% accuracy. The most recent showing at fashion week was full of new releases from brands, and we look forward to amassing the information we need to add to the list of items we can authenticate.

Check out some of our favorite luxury accessories from the recent collections of our top 15 brands. We can’t wait to see them IRL – and start authenticating them for our customers worldwide.
