We are thrilled to announce that handbags from Christian Louboutin are now officially supported by Entrupy Luxury Authentication! This is our 21st brand, and the 6th added this year (alongside Givenchy, Valentino, Ferragamo, MCM and Loewe). 

When nearly anyone hears the word “Louboutin,” they most certainly envision the label’s signature stilettos with lacquered red soles. What they might not know is that , Christian Louboutin began his career in footwear design as a freelancer working with brands such as Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Maud Frizon. In 1991 he launched the eponymous brand, and it was those red soles that quickly garnered the attention of celebrities, royals and socialites worldwide. Fun fact: Princess Caroline of Monaco was his very first customer! 

Another fun fact is the story on how those red soles came to be. In an interview, he once explained, 

“My sketches were not reproduced exactly as I had designed them and I couldn’t figure out why. The two dimensional sketch was so powerful on paper, but when turned into a three-dimensional object, it was somehow lacking energy. Frustrated after having tried different things to liven up the design, I spontaneously grabbed my assistant’s red nail polish and painted the sole. I instantly knew that this would be a success!”

And the handbags? Well, those were launched in 2003 – after increasing demand from people who wanted to be sure their bag was a fitting match for their shoes.
